The Earl of Canterbury is a very rich man who is married to a lady they are both very silly and lack intelligence. Earls are given there names for noble birth by Anglo-saxons similar to the old Norse (Scandinavian) word Jarl which meant chieftain which means they rule certain pieces of land in the kings stead Earl do not have the power to invade and so are only caretakers of the land. In middle ages over in Scandinavia it became fashion to change the title to duke. An Earl is very ridiculas in what they wear bit like jedward's hair or lady gaga and Katie Perry's choice in clothing. The Earl of Canterbury can be described best as a drama queen. Although posh he can be mistaken for gay as he wears a ridiculas head piece fluffed up shoulder braces and earings and other jewels often wore by a lady.

Robin Hood (hurray) performance log book

during rehearsals we directed the positions of the characters, gave verdict on how they said the lines and the pace of which the lines where spoken.

In rehearsal we built the beginning structure of the first scene where the people of Nottingham stood in line to pay they're taxes. The scene started with everyone complaining to Prince John about the taxes which ended with Max pushing the "filthy peasants" out of his way. As the peasants complain to one another down jumps the sheriff and his guards who stop the rabble and barges past (later this is changed to him getting lifted down and the peasants pushed to the floor) informing everyone its time to pay their taxes and the annoyingly load shout of guard 2 as he tells them "form a cue, now" which the sheriff isn't too pleased about. As the peasants pay their taxes in creeps the notorious out lore Robin Hood (hurray) after the first two have paid we froze to introduce Robin Hood (hurray) Little John and Will Scarlet. then 3 more peasants move forward one getting pushed to the ground which changed to hobbling off with a coat from a kind guard 2. Then guard 3 runs in claiming to have been assaulted by 3 hooded figures one of whom he believes to be Robin Hood. on almost every Robin Hood we had to cheer. Even during the whispered Robin Hood on the scene between Marian and her nurse maid after guard 3 has explained his endeavours with the 3 intruders who smacked his bum. During this part of the scene Nurse explains to Marian why everyone looks so miserable and that her Uncle is taking all the money of the poor to keep him and other people rich and that Robin Hood is trying to stop this heinous crime by returning the money to the people that need it most. In the next part of the scene Robin reveals his true identity to the guards and sheriff who think him but an deaf man and fights the guards. the sheriff orders them to attack in which they pick up guard 1 and use him as a battering ram, Robin, Will and little John duck and role this attack leaving the guards in a heap on the floor who pant as they get up only to be kicked in the bum. then guard 2 goes to punch John only to get thrown to the floor, guard 1 runs at Robin to punch him but Robin dodges and kicks the guard into the sheriff whilst guard 3 tries to grab Will only to miss thrice and gets k.o.d by Will. In the final scene the pace was faster and busier than the first. when shooting the arrows the morphed actors had to stick the arrows into the target and the sword fight at the end involved slow motion and freezing which although it still was busy helped the audience to focus on one part instead of all of it at once. After running through each bit we could see what bits would fit well and what didn't. What worked well was the use of freeze and go action as it showed contrast to each individual piece of the fight scene. It would have worked better if there was more space as it was quite closed up during the fight scene and people where close to falling into each other and causing injury .

My character could have been a bit more royal and posh rather than as the audience put it "homosexual". Which made the performance lacking of the ridiculas comedic nature the character was meant to have. The black out occurring before my lines where finished irritated me almost as much as my blindfold failing to be tied and me forgetting my lines. The energy in the show was lacking and the clarity and volume wasn't as high as it could be at times. But on a whole i think the show went well and my Character wasn't as good as he could be.

We were constantly told that are energy, pace, projection, clarity and over exaggeration could be better to which are class put everything we had to improve and make it the best it could be which made a show a huge hit with both the audience and each other quite a few of us enjoyed the show and grew closer together because of it. It also gave us a target to beat this show and make our performances better the the one before.

We had potential problems with the target as the arrows wouldn't stay in and then there was my lines and the lack of swords in the archery competition which we sorted by: if the arrows didn't go in on first try not to worry drop and walk off, going over the lines a scene before and finally improvise e.g. invisible swords or use an arrow.
